For Admission in Undergraduate Programmes in Pakistani Universities


Overview

The Education Testing Council (ETC) is conducting the Undergraduate Studies Admission Test (USAT) for students intending to seek admission in undergraduate level courses/programmes in Pakistani Universities.
USAT covers most education streams such as Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Computer Science, Commerce, Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities, etc. Students may choose the relevant test as per their university’s admission requirement and academic streams.
After qualifying the respective USAT, students become eligible for admission to relevant universities.
USAT is also valid for two years for the award of HEC undergraduate scholarships.


Qualifying Score and Validity of Test

  • Any score equal to or above 50 out of 100 will be considered a qualifying USAT score.

  • The test score is valid for two (02) years.

Test Schedule

  • The registration portal will remain open for admission by Thursday, June 12, 2025 (24:00 hours).

  • The test will be conducted on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

  • ETC conducts USAT on a quarterly basis in major cities of Pakistan. For next test dates, kindly see the Test Calendar 2025 at ETC website.


For Universities

  • Universities will give due weightage to the USAT score as per their admission policy while preparing the merit.

  • Students applying for admission to universities (accepting USAT) will submit their ETC Score Card or relevant category for inclusion in the weightage-based merit determining formula.

Who can Apply for USAT?

Students who have:

  • Passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or equivalent examinations (12 years education).

  • Appeared in the final HSSC or equivalent examinations and are awaiting their results.


Which USAT Category to Apply for?

USAT is conducted in the following six categories. The students may register in any of the categories keeping in view their university’s admission requirement and/or their academic streams.

Important Application Instructions:

  • Candidates who have registered or applied using the CNIC of their parents, siblings, relatives, or any other individual are not permitted to sit in the test.

  • Fee will be submitted through 1Link/IBill Invoice payment services with the generated consumer number. After depositing the fee through 1Link/IBill Invoice, click on Verify Online Payment on the ETC Dashboard.

  • The test fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

  • Applicants will be able to download their Roll Number Slip from https://etc.hec.gov.pk and through their registered e-mail address a week before the test date.

  • E-mail/SMS will be sent to registered applicants about the issuance of their Roll Number Slips. While filling out online application forms, candidates are required to provide their valid e-mail/mobile numbers on which they wish to receive their Roll Number Slips. SMS will not be sent to mobile numbers converted from one network to another network. These applicants will get this information through their e-mail.

  • A printout of the Roll Number Slip and Original CNIC/Passport will be required to enter the Test Centre on the Test Day.

  • Under 18 years candidates who do not have their CNIC must bring their original B Form along with their original SSC/HSSC certificate with their picture on it.

  • The test will be conducted in major cities. Applicants may select any Test Centre from the list available in the application form. Test Centre will not be changed after registration.


Additional Important Notes:

  • Mobile phones or electronic devices such as calculating devices, recording devices, communication, or imaging electronic devices are NOT ALLOWED inside the test center.

Taking images of the question book, uploading, or sharing these images is strictly prohibited and an offence liable to be punished as per the ETC rules.

How to Apply

  • Visit https://etc.hec.gov.pk for online registration.

  • In case of any difficulty during online registration, please visit https://onlinehelp.hec.gov.pk

  • After completion of registration data/information, candidates need to SUBMIT the application.

  • Only SUBMITTED applications will be considered. Applications in SAVE or INCOMPLETE mode will NOT be entertained.

  • Candidates who make a query at least three working days before the test date will have their issues resolved. Otherwise, their query will NOT be entertained.

  • Candidates must get queries/complaints resolved before the closure of the web registration portal. Queries/complaints handling beyond the registration deadline is denied by the system due to logistics/security reasons.

  • Kindly check your personal details, such as name, CNIC number, cell number, etc. before submitting your application.
