Position Details – Qualifications & Requirements
Each category of positions has specific qualification criteria. General requirements per category include:
-
Medical Consultants (Full-Time): MBBS with postgraduate qualifications (such as FCPS, MRCP, FRCS or equivalent) in the relevant specialty. Applicants should be board-certified/board-eligible in their field with significant experience (often 5+ years) at a tertiary-care hospital. Excellent clinical skills and registration with PMC (Pakistan Medical Commission) are required.
-
Locum Consultants: Should possess the same qualifications as full-time consultants in the respective specialty (FCPS, equivalent fellowship or specialization). These are experienced specialists who will work on a part-time or temporary basis, so a flexible schedule and immediate availability is a plus. Locum consultants must be fully licensed and ideally have prior experience in a similar role.
-
Visiting Consultant: A senior specialist (in this case, a Thoracic Surgeon) with advanced qualifications and a distinguished career in the field. Visiting consultants are usually highly experienced surgeons or physicians who can offer their services on specific days or on-call. Must have board certification and be recognized in their specialty, as they will be providing expert consultations or performing specialized procedures periodically.
-
Senior Instructors: MBBS with completed residency training (FCPS Part II or equivalent specialty training) in the relevant discipline. These positions are akin to junior consultant or attending-in-training roles. Freshly qualified fellows or those near completion of their training are encouraged to apply. Senior Instructors must be willing to work in Lahore for two years of hands-on experience and be prepared for two years of further training abroad (sponsored by the hospital) to subspecialize. Excellent learning orientation and commitment to eventually serve at SKMCH&RC (in Lahore, Karachi, or Peshawar as needed) is expected.
-
CPSP Fellowship Trainees: MBBS with completion of all prerequisites to enroll in a CPSP Fellowship (e.g. completion of residency or FCPS in a base specialty). For example, Fellow in Endocrinology applicants might need FCPS in Medicine or equivalent; Fellow in Palliative Medicine may require prior training in Oncology or Internal Medicine. Candidates should meet College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan criteria and have a strong academic record. They will undergo structured training and are expected to commit to the full duration of the fellowship.
-
Nursing & Paramedical Staff: Relevant nursing or allied health qualifications are required for each role. Nurse Lecturers should have a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) or preferably an MSN, along with teaching experience for lecturer roles. Team Leaders and Staff Nurses must be registered with the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC), with a diploma or degree in nursing (General Nursing Diploma/BSc Nursing) and clinical experience (the senior the role, the more experience required in leadership or specialized care).
Part-Time Lecturers in sciences or Pakistan studies should have Master’s degrees in the relevant subject (e.g. MPhil or MSc) and teaching experience. The Post Basic Diploma trainees require prior nursing certification (RN, plus preferably one year of clinical experience) as they will be pursuing advanced specialized nursing training. Strong communication skills, compassion, and up-to-date knowledge of healthcare practices are essential for all nursing and paramedical roles.
-
Management, Administration & Technical: A relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the respective field is required. (For example, IT positions require a degree in Computer Science/IT or Software Engineering; engineering roles require an Electrical/Computer Engineering degree; Clinical Research Officers may require an MBBS or Masters in a life science or public health.)
Applicants should have proven experience in similar roles – e.g. several years in software development for Software Engineers (with proficiency in programming and databases), network certification for Network Engineers (such as CCNA/CCNP), and project or lab experience for research positions. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are important. Senior roles (e.g. Senior/Principal Engineers) may require 5-8+ years of experience and leadership abilities, whereas junior roles (Associate engineers, etc.) might accept 1-3 years experience. All technical staff should be adept with modern tools and relevant technologies in their domain.
Estimated Salary Ranges (PKR/month)
While exact salaries will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and the hospital’s pay scale, below are realistic estimated salary ranges for each category of positions at SKMCH&RC Lahore. (These estimates are based on industry standards for 2025 in Pakistan’s healthcare sector):
-
Medical Consultants (Full-Time): Approximately PKR 300,000 – 600,000 per month (depending on specialty and years of experience). Senior consultants in high-demand specialties can earn on the higher end of this range.
-
Locum/Visiting Consultants: PKR 200,000 – 500,000 per month (pro-rated). Compensation for locum or visiting roles is often calculated on a per diem or per session basis, but if one were to equate it to a full-time monthly scale, it falls in this range. (These roles are paid commensurately with full-time consultants for the hours/days they work; exact pay is negotiable per assignment.)
-
Senior Instructors: Approximately PKR 120,000 – 250,000 per month. These are mid-level doctor positions; starting salaries are around the low end (for those just out of residency) with growth as they gain experience. During the overseas training years, instructors typically continue to receive a stipend/salary from the hospital as part of the program.
-
CPSP Fellows: Approximately PKR 80,000 – 150,000 per month. Fellows (postgraduate trainees) receive a stipend that reflects their status as trainees – usually lower than fully qualified consultants but competitive for advanced training positions.
-
Nursing & Paramedical: Roughly PKR 60,000 – 120,000 per month. Staff Nurse positions may start around PKR 60k (with increments for experience or specialized skills), while senior nursing instructors or nurse managers can earn towards the upper end. Highly specialized or experienced nursing staff (e.g. Senior Nurse Lecturers) may even reach or slightly exceed this range (up to ~PKR 150,000 for top roles). Paramedical lecturers and coordinators’ pay would be in a similar bracket, often on a part-time basis for lecturer roles.
-
Management, Administration & Technical: Approximately PKR 80,000 – 200,000 per month. This category covers a wide range of jobs from junior technical staff to senior engineers and managers. Entry-level engineers or officers might start around PKR 70k–90k, whereas senior software/network engineers and project managers with several years of experience can earn well above PKR 150k. Principal level engineers or specialized technical managers could be on the higher end, near PKR 200k or more, especially if they bring extensive expertise.
These salary ranges are indicative to help applicants know the market-competitive compensation at SKMCH&RC. The hospital offers an attractive pay package along with additional benefits like free medical coverage for employees and their immediate families (for regular staff), a secure work environment, and opportunities for growth.
